Tehmine Schaeffer

Tehmine Schaeffer is an internationally acclaimed Austrian–Armenian lyric coloratura soprano renowned for her versatility in both operatic and concert repertoires. A distinguished alumna of the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan, she earned honors in vocal study, organ, and composition, and later continued her career in Moscow before settling in Vienna.

She has garnered multiple prizes in Russia, notably first prize at the Victoria International Vocal and Choral Festival in Kazan, alongside special prizes from Romansiada and the Glinka Vocal Contest.

As a concert soloist, Tehmine has shared the stage with luminaries such as Yuri Bashmet and the New Russia State Symphony Orchestra at Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Concert Hall. Her performances include Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Glière’s Concerto for Coloratura Soprano in Cairo, and Tariverdiev’s soprano concerto with the Bolshoi Orchestra.

Her operatic roles span Shostakovich’s The Nose, Wagner’s Parsifal (Flower Maiden), Haydn’s La Fedeltà Premiata (Nerina), Strauss’s The Gypsy Baron (Arsena), and notably the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute—performed in Austria and China. Tehmine has also graced prestigious festivals such as Aix‑en‑Provence, North Aegean, and Fermata.

Based in Vienna, Tehmine continues to enchant audiences worldwide with her exceptional vocal agility and artistic depth.
